Our story
Hi, I’m Angelo Maiuri, CEO of Gustus. Our family comes from the Campania region of Southern Italy – a place of sun, fertile land, and centuries of traditions.
Our story begins in 1865 with Don Efisio, a distant relative of mine. He served as a marshal in the army of the Kingdom of Savoy, traveling across Southern Italy, keeping the peace, and along the way discovering a love for the land and its fruits. When he married the largest landowner in Cilento National Park, he and his wife began a small agricultural business that has been carried forward by the family ever since.
Today, Gustus continues that tradition through the production of organic, hand-picked extra virgin olive oil. Each bottle is a connection to generations past, to the care taken in every grove, and to the simple joy of sharing God’s gifts with others – now all over Europe.

About the territory
Our olives grow in Cilento National Park, on the hills that rise above the Mediterranean Sea. Here, every tree clings to a slope, there are no flat fields. Harvesting means climbing, carrying, and working against gravity. It is difficult work, but it is also honest work, and worth every effort.
The olive variety is Pisciottana, native to this land. It matures earlier than most, which is why our olives are not green when collected but darker, richer in tone.
Some of these trees have stood for centuries, quietly producing harvest after harvest. Generations of families have lived and worked here, trusting that each season would bring what was needed.
What we do differently?
Other extra virgin olive oils
- The olives are picked by shaking - shaking also drops olives that are not yet ready.
- Bitter flavour - if olives are picked too early and are not yet ripe, the oil will have a bitter or bitter taste.
- Artificial fertilisers and pesticides - The average olive oil contains 0.9% of pesticides, which are harmful to health.
- Mass production - olive oil is produced in large factories that do not pay attention to the delicate aromas and nuances of olive oil.
Our organic extra virgin olive oil
- Olives fall over by themselves - olives fall over by themselves when they are ready. We never chop our own olive trees and pick the olives by hand.
- Sweet flavour - we press only the ripest and sweetest olives that have fallen down on their own.
- Pure fertiliser and no pesticides - we use only local manure to fertilise the plants and we don't use pesticides.
- Limited quantity - our method of harvesting and producing olives is much slower, and therefore we only produce 1000 litres of olive oil per year.

Very happy, such a nice “fresh grass” aroma and taste and not bitter at all! A favourite! 🙏🏻💚

I’m happy too! I pour it almost everywhere and sometimes take it with a spoon. It’s very healthy, especially if it’s a pure product…. I even visit the masseur with my own oil! Thanks a lot! 🙂

🫒Our family got the bottle we had been waiting for…we all tasted it and even the 6 and 8 year olds said it was VERY tasty, soft and flavourful 🫒
Rein
The taste was good and it passed the "refrigerator test" successfully. This means that the real olive oil will solidify completely in 10 – 15 hours but the mixed fake oil will not solidify at all in the fridge.

The best of the best olive oil, I recommend it to everyone I know. Wonderful taste experience, clean and light. Thank you Gustus 🙏

We don’t make much olive oil, but we make it with care. Thank you for supporting our family and the farmers we work with. Every bottle is a reminder that simple things — when done honestly — are often the best.
